IVF step-by-step process

Your journey to IVF treatment is a significant decision that involves meticulous steps and expert guidance. Here’s a step-by-step guide outlining the detailed process to ensure you’re prepared at every stage.

Consultation with the counsellor

This is the foundation of your treatment plan. A Counsellor will collect all your medical history, health conditions and previous attempts, if any, to plan the treatment approach based on your unique needs.

Consultation with the RHS

Your  Reproductive Health Specialist evaluates your health by collaborating closely with the counselling doctors. This lays the groundwork to determine the most suitable treatment approach.

Essential Diagnostics

Necessary lab tests and scans will be conducted as the Reproductive Health Specialist recommends to understand your health condition comprehensively. This can help craft a personalised treatment strategy.

Formulating a Treatment plan

With the tailored plan based on the observed results, you'll have a complete overview of what to expect in the treatment process. This stage ensures you're prepared for every step physically, mentally and emotionally.

Overview of IVF Process

Controlled Ovarian Stimulation

This process begins with hormonal injections from days 2 to 12 of your menstrual cycle. On day 13, a trigger injection (HCG) is administered to ensure the timely rupture of matured eggs.

Egg collection and retrieval

Eggs will be collected from the ovaries in a calm, pain-free environment. Motile sperm are collected simultaneously. This is followed by fertilising the healthy egg and sperm to form an embryo.

Embryo culture

The embryo will be nurtured and monitored in the laboratory for around five days to ensure its healthy development. You can also choose to freeze your embryos for future use.

Preimplantation genetic testing

A small sample from the embryo is  tested for specific diseases with the correct number of chromosomes after around 5-6 days.

Embryo transfer

Embryo transfer will be done 2-5 days after the egg retrieval in a calm, pain-free and sterile environment. In this procedure, the fertilised embryo will be transferred to your uterus. You'll be closely monitored for ten days before you resume your daily activities.

Pregnancy testing

Once pregnancy tests are positive, you'll be referred to an obstetrician for prenatal care.
